Because the first year at school is full of learning challenges, from sitting still and focussing in class to learning to read, write, navigate social skills etc. Carol does not recommend that children start having formal piano lessons until at least the age of 5 and 3/4, or having completed 2 terms in full-time school.  Beginning the piano requires a combination of new skills to be coordinated, which is no mean feat at any age.  With very young children, we can overcome a short attention span by introducing each of these aspects gradually until they become familiar, and so note-reading, for example, may not be introduced until much later on.

However, there will be plenty of material to keep young beginners engaged and inspired as they find their way around the keyboard, learning tunes by rote whilst gaining foundational physical techniques that will set them up for proficiency for many years to come.

This includes opportunities for working with a variety of repertoire, often chosen by the individual, as well as creative exploration.  We host student concerts twice per year, in which all students, regardless of level, are invited to perform.  We also enter performing arts festivals and prepare for examinations as appropriate.

What is Lorem Ipsum?
Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry's standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book
Why do we use it?
It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using 'Content here, content here', making it look like readable English
