 Buying a piano...

Finding the right piano requires careful consideration, given the level of commitment involved.  In addition to the cost of purchasing, there will be the removal and periodic maintenance (tuning) of your piano over, quite possibly, a good few years.  It is therefore a process you will not want to repeat too frequently!

 Learning Piano or Keyboard is a great skill for adults

 It’s never too late to learn!  Whether you had lessons as a child and want to pick it up again,  or just want to try something new, then you may well find some unexpected benefits.  Not only is it fun and exciting to show off your new skills, it’s also a great form of exercise for your brain.  Many people find it a great break from the everyday stresses and it opens up a new direction in your life.

 The Rewards of learning Electronic Keyboard.  

However, whilst the piano will always remain the most versatile of instruments, one should not underestimate the scope  of the modern keyboard, nor regard it as an easy option!  In many ways learning the keyboard is at least as difficult and rewarding:

● You will be learning to play entire melodies with the right hand, and will therefore find yourself venturing out of the five-finger position quite early on.

 The  Importance  of  Practising...

 It’s not only the length of time spent practising that ensures success, but how that time is spent.  One of the teacher’s roles is to show the student how best to practise effectively. General methods will apply in every case, i.e. slow repetition, breaking the music down into manageable sections.

 When should a child start learning piano...

 I am often asked this question by parents who want to give their pre-school child a head start in music and education.  Although it is well known that learning to play an instrument effectively complements academic studies by improving physical co-ordination, concentration and memory skills, learning the piano in itself requires complex mental and physical processes and the ability to concentrate!
